ABSTRACT
Article explores evolution of social policy in Poland in the context of broader changes of welfare state and in the context of the influence of European institutions. In the first part, author briefly describe the trends in changes of welfare systems in last decades. Then he moves to the contemporary polish context, dividing it into several periods. Firstly, he describes the first decade after transition. After that, he moves to the first decade in XXI that was — in case of social policy in Poland — affected by the process of European integration. In the end, author outlines main challenges for the ongoing decade and the future.
